New Wales tours and itineraries for international Travel Trade and consumers are now available from a number of Destination Management Companies (DMCs) / incoming operators, professional tourist guides and accredited English language schools located and operating in Wales. These Wales-based suppliers provide a culturally sensitive service for internationally based operators, agents and consumers who look to a local provider on the ground with the knowledge and contacts to help them provide memorable tours and experiences all across Wales. The new itineraries have been developed with sustainability in mind with a focus on:

  • increasing Spend
  • regional Spread and
  • extending the tourism Season.

The suite of new and updated sustainable inbound itineraries, language courses and bookable programmes - alongside destination promotion - is aimed at recovering Wales’ profile and business from international markets.

The new itineraries include a diverse range of themes, products, activities and experiences across Wales.

adeo Travel has four Wales tour itineraries which they have created and updated this year. They include:

  • Rail of Wales – 5 day rail tour featuring North and South Wales
  • Explore Wales by Rail – 15 day rail tour of Wales
  • Enchanting Wales – 8 day small group tour of Wales (max. 16 passengers)
  • Wales Explorer – 10 day self-drive tour of Wales

Adventure Tours UK’s new activity tours include:

  • Offa’s Dyke southern half – 9 day tour with 6 full days of guided walking along the Offa’s Dyke Path from Sedbury Cliffs to Knighton
  • Offa’s Dyke northern half – 10 day tour with 7 full days of guided walking along the Offa’s Dyke Path from Knighton to Prestatyn Beach
  • Adventure South Wales – 8 days of adventure for thrill seekers and adrenalin junkies

Celtic English Academy in Cardiff has adapted their short-stay programmes (1-4 weeks) and undertaken promotional activity which will:

  • increase spend - targeting new, high-value visitors e.g. Japanese/Swiss seniors
  • increase spread - offering both North and South Wales programmes
  • extend seasonality - targeting groups from Latin America (travel peak season: Dec-Feb), Europe school groups (Sep–Oct, March-April), China (Jan), Thailand (April) 

Celtic Travel Services has created five new tours:

  • Quirky attractions of Wales – 7 night itinerary featuring Cardiff and South East Wales
  • Castles and National Trust properties – 7 night itinerary featuring Cardiff and South East Wales
  • Exploring Your Family Tree – 3 night itinerary exploring the estate of the Pritchard family at Llancaiach Fawr, places that inspired Roald Dahl and the home town of Tom Jones
  • Choir Tours – takes care of every element of group travel for choir tours
  • Grass Roots Sporting Tours – takes care of every element of group travel for professional sports teams

Conwy Tours has launched three new guided private day itineraries for FIT parties of up to four passengers or small groups of up to 24 in a luxury van or small luxury coach with collection from accommodation in the Conwy area. The guided cultural adventures include:

  • A Tasty Tour – a full day food and drink tour of North West Wales
  • Celts and Castles Tour – a full day tour including the highlights of Snowdonia and Anglesey
  • Real, Human and Magical Tour – a full day tour of North West Wales including a sheepdog demonstration, a visit to a woollen mill and a short Welsh lesson

North Wales Tourism’s new itineraries include:

  • The Road of Castles in Wonderland – 4 day itinerary of North Wales
  • Rail itinerary in partnership with Avanti Rail North West route
  • Bite size tours for staying visitors

Routescape has created five new itineraries with accommodation at country inns and country house hotels:

  • Wales by Foot – 10 day walking itinerary taking in Wales’ mountain and coastal landscape
  • Cymru 870 – 8 day itinerary exploring Wales’ coastline
  • Birthplace of the Tudor Dynasty – 5 day itinerary discovering the footsteps of the Welsh Tudor dynasty and its Welsh legacy
  • Hidden Gardens of Wales – 7 day itinerary visiting woodlands, gardens and country estates and castles. Includes behind the scene tours with garden curators.
  • Celtic Explorer – 8 day journey through rural West Wales, Anglesey and Ireland's Ancient East.

Wales TG Ltd has developed a range of new small group/FIT itineraries for a maximum of 24 passengers, themed around heritage and golf. Itineraries include:

  • Golf, Heritage & Touring – 7 day itinerary combining golf, World Heritage Sites, National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Championship Golf & Touring – 7 day itinerary combining golf courses that have welcomed international golf tournaments, World Heritage Sites, National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Golf & Touring Gems – 7 day itinerary combining Phil’s favourite courses from 20 years of promoting Golf in Wales and as a Professional Tourist Guide

Rarebits Collection has refreshed their brand and has developed itineraries and products including:

  • Food & Drink tour of Wales – 10 nights
  • Tour of Wales with Rarebits Collection – 16 nights
  • ‘Wales Up North’ tour – 8 nights
  • ‘Wales Down South’ tour – 9 nights
  • Garden tour of Wales – 11 nights

The new and updated itineraries and programmes, along with promotional activities, were developed with support through a Welsh Government targeted revenue fund for established Destination Management Companies (DMCs) / incoming operators, professional tourist guides and accredited English language schools located and operating in Wales. The Wales International Inbound Tourism Fund was designed to support the sector recover, remain resilient and ensure maximum wider visitor economy impact by enabling recipients to build on their existing itineraries to develop and promote updated programmes and packages.
