A new long-distance walking route, the Teifi Valley Trail, has launched offering your clients a scenic and memorable journey along one of Wales’ most scenic rivers.  It provides a great opportunity to explore welcoming local communities, businesses, attractions and places to stay, whilst enjoying the Teifi Valley’s rich wildlife, heritage and culture.

Stretching 83 miles (134 km) from the Cambrian Mountains to Cardigan Bay, the trail follows the course of the River Teifi on a source-to-sea journey.  It showcases a variety of landscapes, taking walkers through open countryside, wooded gorges, farmland and river valleys before reaching the coast.  It also has a cultural and heritage appeal with highlights such as Cilgerran Castle, Cardigan Castle, St Dogmaels Abbey and Strata Florida Abbey.

It is a medium-grade route and can be completed over eight days and divided into three stages.  Your clients can choose to do the whole route or just one stage.

The trail has been developed by the Teifi Valley Trail Association in partnership with local authorities, landowners and tourism businesses, using existing public footpaths.

Although the towns and villages along the trail offer food, drink and accommodation, the route itself remains rural. Notable towns encountered on the journey include Tregaron, Lampeter, Llandysul, Newcastle Emlyn and Cardigan.   The trail offers varied landscapes including farmland, nature reserve, wooded gorges, waterfalls, wells and coastline

A dedicated website provides downloadable GPX maps, step-by-step directions and practical planning information, with new waymarking in place and a guidebook is available.
