Llys-y-frân Lake & Visitor Centre

Award winning Llys-y-frân Lake reopened in 2021 following a £4m refurbishment and offers a brand-new visitor centre with bright and airy cafe, gift shop featuring Welsh crafts and produce, cycle hire, mountain bike trails, archery, axe throwing, walking trails, watersports, climbing wall and fishing.

Outdoor activities at Llys-y-Frân Lake includes both water and land-based recreational fun. On the water, visitors can enjoy kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle boarding. Fishing on the bank or by boat is available.

Land activities include walking and cycling with over 14km of trails to explore and a brand-new Pump Skills Track and a wide range of bikes available to hire. Visitors can also learn the art of axe throwing and have a go at archery. Other activities include Crazy-Bugz, six-wheeled off-road buggies for young adventurers.

Llys-y-frân is a very special place in the foothills of the Preseli Mountains. The reservoir was opened in 1972 to supply clean water to Pembrokeshire. The dam is a feat of engineering, but it has also preserved this landscape as a haven for nature and wildlife. The 350 acres of woodland, grassland and lake are perfect for walking, cycling and fishing – and a whole range of activities on land and water. Or you can just enjoy the peace and glorious views. Lakeside Café is available for lunch and refreshments and groups are catered for with pre booked breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Our varied menu can be tailored to suit all kinds of groups.

Our large function room is ideal for meetings, conferences, training days or group activity days. We can organise a day of outdoor adventure as part of a team building experience. We also have smaller meeting rooms available to break out into.

If you are planning an away day or group visit to Llys-y-frân and would like to learn about the biodiversity and conservation of the site, we can arrange a ranger led walk and talk. This can be accompanied by cycling, we have mountain bikes and ebikes available to hire. There's also archery and axe throwing to have a go at!
