About Nantgarw China Works Museum

Home to the world famous Nantgarw porcelain, Nantgarw China Works is the last remaining 19th century porcelain factory in the UK. It now houses a museum, supports heritage craft skills on site, runs classes and once again makes world class porcelain to the original recipe used two hundred years ago. An onsite tea room serves tea and cake and the museum shop sells unique high quality ceramics, jewellery, prints and cards all made onsite.
The beautiful site, a scheduled ancient monument, nestles beside the remains of the Glamorganshire canal and houses the only remaining bottle kilns in Wales. A number of high skilled artists work onsite including mould makers, slip casters, willow weavers and botanical painters. The museum runs over 500 courses each year teaching pottery, fused glass, botanical painting and willow weaving.
