A visit to The Royal Mint is not just a trip - it’s a journey through more than 1,000 years of history, craftsmanship and cutting-edge innovation with a brand new tour for 2025.

Nestled in the heart of Llantrisant, South Wales, The Royal Mint Experience offers an experience that captivates groups of all interests and ages. Whether your client is a history buff, a coin collector, or simply someone looking for a unique outing, The Royal Mint delivers an unforgettable day out.

One of the highlights is the exclusive behind-the-scenes access it offers. Here, visitors can dive into the fascinating world of coins. Guests can even ‘Strike Their Own Coin,’ creating a tangible memory to take home.

The experience doesn’t stop there - groups can explore the interactive exhibits, uncover hidden tales from The Mint’s storied past, and marvel at limited-edition coins, including those made with rare materials like 24-carat gold.

New tours in 2025 and a world-first

This year marks an exciting chapter for The Royal Mint Experience, with the launch of a new tour. This updated experience invites groups to witness the innovative directions The Mint is taking, including its ground breaking gold recovery technology.

Your clients will see examples of Britain’s coins through the years, from historic, to the modern day.

Using a world-first process, The Royal Mint extracts precious metals like gold from old electronics such as mobile phones and laptops. This sustainable initiative highlights The Mint’s commitment to a greener future and adds a modern twist to its centuries-old tradition of excellence.

For those seeking the unusual, there are plenty of surprises. From learning about Edward VIII’s unconventional coinage to viewing ancient coins over 1,000 years old, the exhibits brim with unexpected stories.

Not to be missed is the collection of commemorative coins celebrating everything from royal milestones to cultural icons, showcasing a perfect blend of artistry and heritage.

After ceasing production of overseas circulating coins in December 2024, The Mint has fully embraced its transformation into a hub of innovation. With more than £17 million invested in new ventures, including luxury jewellery and precious metals investment, the revamped tour offers a glimpse into the exciting future of this iconic institution.

When should groups visit?

Timing your visit depends on your group’s preferences. Spring, with the launch of the new tour, offers an ideal opportunity to see The Mint’s transformation in full swing. Summer provides longer days for exploration, while autumn brings quieter crowds and stunning scenery. For a festive twist, winter’s cozy atmosphere and Christmas celebrations guarantee a magical experience.
