2024 is set to be the year of “Sportcations”, with sports tourism lining up to be a huge travel trend.
Adventure Tours UK has just released the ultimate tour across a brand new MTB (mountain biking) route in Wales for hardy cyclists looking to get in on the trend.
The Traws Eryri (Trans Snowdonia) Mountain Biking tour invites bikers to uncover Britain’s newest long-distance off-road cycling route this summer. The spectacular 140 miles (225 km) adventure involves pedalling up the equivalent of Wales’s highest mountain, Snowdon, over four times.
Highlights of the 6 day trip include skirting by the ruins of Roman castles tracing back to 1AD and cycling between the mountains of Carnedd Llywelyn and Glyder Fawr while enjoying glorious views over a glacial valley.
The Traws Eryri route itself was announced by Cycling UK just last year and includes purpose-built MTB trails through some of the wildest and least explored landscapes of Wales’ legendary Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.
Cyclists climb 15,450 feet (4,709 metres) throughout the four stages of the route and face varied terrain along the way including rocky doubletracks, gravel fire roads, smooth stretches of single track and grassy trails.
Claire Copeman, Co-Founder of Adventure Tours UKThe Traws Eryri route is set to elevate the UK’s offering for multi-day mountain biking, and our tour will guide riders every step of the way. Climbing Wales’ steep hills and tackling its varied terrain offers an exciting challenge, rewarding those who take it on with absolutely otherworldly scenery. What’s more, you’ll often have these breathtaking sites almost entirely to yourselves.”
On the Traws Eryri tour, a local expert and professional mountain bike guide skillfully leads your clients on an epic off-road trip through deep-sided valleys, ancient Roman roads, and captivating forests as you journey from the quaint market town of Machynlleth to the fortified walls of Conwy. And there’s no need to worry about luggage, each day their bags will be effortlessly transported to their next stop.
The 5 night biking adventure is taking place on Saturday 1st June and Saturday 7th September. This includes 4 days of guided riding along the new 140 miles (225 km) Traws Eryri (Trans Snowdonia) mountain bike route, a local professional mountain bike guide, luggage transfers, 5 nights of accommodation, breakfasts every morning, 2 evening meals and the planting of a native tree.
