About Newport Medieval Ship Project

The Newport Medieval Ship is an archaeological find of international importance. The remains of the 15th Century merchant vessel were discovered in 2002 in the centre of Newport, South Wales. The wooden ship, along with over a thousand artefacts, were raised and have been the subject of intense research and conservation efforts over the last 20 years. The ultimate goal of the entire project is the reassembly and display of the hull in a museum.
