About Rib Ride

Whether its the adrenalin rush of high speed turns or the encounters with wild life, you are sure to leave the boats with a smile on your face.

We cater for individuals or groups wanting a one hour ribride, to those more adventurous chartering a rib for the day to go around Anglesey or to chill out on a secluded beach.

BRIDGES AND SWELLIES TOUR: After checking in at RibRide reception you will make your way to St George’s Pier, where your skipper will be waiting. Once life jackets have been fitted and the safety briefing delivered, you will be all set for an amazing and memorable Anglesey boat trip!

Remember to hold on tight, as we ease away from the pontoon before increasing the speed and heading towards the towering pillars of Menai Bridge. Feel the wind in your hair and your excitement rise as you enter the Swellies, infamous for its shipwrecks, rocks and whirlpools. Here you can marvel at the magnificence of the two bridges guarding it’s entrances, as your skipper keeps you entertained with fascinating stories about the area on the best boat trip North Wales.

Once through the Swellies, keep an eye out for the stone lions before you pass by Lord Nelson and onwards to Plas Newydd. Then it’s an about turn, back through the Swellies returning to Menai Bridge and heading past ‘Millionaires' row’. You will head up to Garth Pier, the second longest in Wales, before turning once more and zipping back to base with a few high speed twists and turns to finish.

PUFFIN AND SEALS TOUR: All RibRiders check in at the RibRide reception prior to going afloat. Once checked in you will be guided to St George’s Pier where your RIB and Skipper will be waiting. Your Skipper will ensure all life jackets are fitted correctly and once the safety briefing is complete you will be ready to embark upon a thrilling adventure.

Your RIB will gently depart the pontoon before increasing in speed as you journey from Menai Bridge towards Puffin Island. Along the way you will get the chance to view the spectacular houses of Millionaires’ Row and Garth Pier, the second longest in Wales. Further along you will pass by Gallows Point with its gruesome history before the delightfully bright coloured houses of Beaumaris come into view. You will have a unique view of Beaumaris Castle, before heading past an old seaplane factory and mine workings.

As Beaumaris recedes you will head out into the open sea, passing by some old shipwrecks before approaching Puffin Island, or Ynys Seiriol, named after Saint Seiriol who founded a monastery opposite the island at Penmon Point. This uninhabited Island is home to the largest nesting cormorant population in the UK and, of course, the famous Puffins (seasonal visitors). You will watch the wildlife, see the massive colony of seals and experience a bird-spotting bonanza

We then turn the RIB around and it is a fast, fun and exhilarating blast back to base, with bumps and turns along the way.

Our Adventure RIBs cruise at about 30 knts and will reach speeds up to roughly 45 knts dependent upon both the weather and sea state conditions at the time of your trip, so please remember to hold on tightly!

Our Puffins spend most of their lives out at sea on the eastern coast of North America to the western coast of Europe. They are only on the island for a short breading season, May to mid August. Sometimes they arrive early and leave later. Please book a trip in June or early July for your best chance to spot these wonderful birds.

We cannot guarantee you will see any wildlife on our trips, although we will do our utmost to spot what we can and point it out.

Please note: Very occasionally, in adverse weather conditions, it may not be possible to get all the way out to Puffin Island. In this case, all our Skippers have complete discretion to amend the trip to ensure they provide both a safe and highly enjoyable experience for you.
