It's no secret that tourists love visiting places they see on screen. But did you know just how influential screen tourism is? Screen tourism refers to visiting a location that has appeared in a film or television series. This trend is on the rise, as tourists are increasingly interested in exploring the landscapes and architecture shown on screen. For travel companies, screen tourism represents an opportunity to attract visitors to remarkable destinations highlighted in popular films and television shows.

We're excited that Visit Wales has collaborated with VisitBritain for a new 'Starring GREAT Britain' campaign that focuses on using the magic of film and TV to drive visitors from around the world to Great Britain.

Paid advertising efforts to promote Britain will be focused on key inbound markets, including the USA, Australia, France, Germany, and GCC countries to convert the growing interest in British film and TV scene into bookings. The campaign will be enhanced with the powerful reach of VisitBritain's social media and supported by educational film-inspired visits for international trade and media.

And Wales is not just a part of it, it takes centre stage. From the magical world of Harry Potter to the gripping realm of House of the Dragon, the romantic melancholy of The Edge of Love to the vibrant exuberance of Doctor Who. And of course, the TV series spanning 17 years with the most-watched Christmas episode of the last century, Gavin & Stacey - Wales is home to all these stunning backdrops and so much more. Our beautiful country boasts an impressive array of natural landscapes, including vast sandy beaches, breathtaking rugged cliffs, and epic mountains. It's no surprise it has been chosen by so many popular productions.

VisitBritain has done some impressive research showing just how much British television and film locations can inspire your customers' next adventure to the UK. The research has found that 7 out of 10 visitors to the UK check out film or TV locations during their trips. And for those still thinking about visiting Britain in the future, a whopping 9 in 10 are interested in exploring film locations.

Wales features both in the full length version: Starring GREAT Britain - the movie and in this short one: Starring GREAT Britain; Co-starring bird watching and horse riding.
