Visit Wales at World Travel Market 2018

Visit Wales is looking forward to attending World Travel Market (5 to 7 November).  Along with our Welsh stand partners we will be on the UKinbound Stand (UKI200).  If you or one of your team are attending, we would very much like to meet you to highlight new product in Wales along with an update on The Wales Way (the family of three new touring routes throughout Wales).   If you would like to meet us or our partners, please get in touch with us with a suggested meeting time.

To enhance our presence at WTM we are delighted to invite you to our Welsh food and drink showcase that will take place on the stand throughout the event including:

Welsh cake Demonstration and Sampling by Loving Welsh Food

There will be an opportunity to taste Welsh cakes that will be made on the stand by Siân Roberts from Loving Welsh Food throughout the three days.   Sian will explain how Welsh cakes are made and you can learn about her Cardiff foodie business, which offers a variety of food tours, cookery workshops and demonstrations in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.  She recently won “Best Activity in Wales at the National Tourism Awards 2018”.  The food tours are offered in English, Welsh, French, Italian and Spanish.


Welsh cakes on griddle

Two ‘Happy Hour Tasting Sessions’ on Monday and Tuesday between 16.30 and 17.30 - the perfect way to finish a busy day of meetings at WTM! 

Monday 5 November 

Monday’s tasting will be sponsored by Aber Falls Distillery, located at the foot of the famous Aber Falls waterfall in the village of Abergwyngregyn.  They offer a range of premium craft gins and liqueurs, all made using Welsh-inspired ingredients and botanicals, heralding the area and its natural beauty.  The initial range includes Orange Marmalade and Rhubarb & Ginger gins; a Salted Toffee liqueur using the world-famous Anglesey Sea Salt from Halen Môn; a Violet liqueur inspired by the famed flowers of the Menai Straits, plus a Coffee and Dark Chocolate variant.   Aber Falls’ flagship single-malt whisky, made using the finest Welsh barley, will be available from 2020.    It achieved five prestigious medals at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition.    Visitors to the distillery can experience distillery tours, master classes and lab experiences, as well as the opportunity to sample and purchase from the range of premium quality spirits.  

Along with the samples there will be a variety of Jones Crisps, Coco Pzazz chocolates and Sarah Bunton Fudge to taste too.

Tuesday 6 November

This will be sponsored by Penderyn Distillery, located in the  Brecon Beacons National Park, close to ‘Waterfall Country’.  Penderyn Distillery has taken the whisky world by storm since it first started creating its smooth single malt in 2004; as well as award-winning vodka, gin and a cream liqueur.  They have won 13 gold medals for their single malt whiskies in international awards.   You can also learn about their Penderyn Distillery Tour.  Visitors experience the distilling, bottling process and the history of the whisky making in Wales, including sampling with whisky master-classes also available.  They have plans to build two new distilleries in Wales in Swansea, and Llandudno. They currently see over 40,000 visitors to their distillery in Penderyn and the two new facilities could see a further 200,000 visitors between them. They will be sampling their Madeira Finish and Portwood whisky and Merlyn cream liqueur.

Along with the samples there will be a variety of Jones Crisps, Coco Pzazz chocolates and Sarah Bunton fudge to taste.
