Year of the Sea 2018

Throughout 2018 discover new epic experiences all around our shores. This is our Year of the Sea.
Wales has an EPIC coastline, fringed with rugged cliffs and wide sandy bays.
There are also numerous pastel coloured towns, including Solva and Aberaeron and the coastal cities Cardiff and Swansea. It’s also a land of EPIC adventure, sports such as coasteering (a sport invented in Wales) wakeboarding and rib ride boat rides. The world renowned 870 mile / 1400km Wales Coast Path passes seascapes of breathtaking variety, hundreds of beaches, harbours, inlets and islands. Wildlife spotting includes puffins, dolpins and even orca whales as well as crabbing by the quayside. Or follow the rivers upstream to the inland shores of our lakes and reservoirs.
Everywhere you go there’s history to be discovered, the pirate tales of Tenby or infamous Henry Morgan, the Victorian seaside resorts of Llandudno that inspired the stories of Alice in Wonderland and the ancient legends such as Bardsey’s island of 20,000 saints and Cantre’r Gwaelod. Enjoy the stunning views whilst sampling local ale or freshly caught seafood at one of the fisherman’s pubs dotted along the coastline or our fine waterfront restaurants.
