Tempting Wickedly Welsh Chocolate
A small artisan chocolate company and factory, Wickedly Welsh Chocolate, was recently shortlisted for three awards at the Wales Start-Up Awards, and came away from the ceremony with the Tourism and Leisure Start Up of the Year 2016 award.
The chocolate makers based in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, offer a delicious and entertaining day out for all the family, allowing visitors to take part in hands-on demonstrations, as well as getting stuck in making their own tasty treats within the chocolate experience centre too. The chocolate factory has something for everyone and every age including; make your own chocolate pizzas & even chocolate kebabs!
The Wales Start-Up Awards are different to any other awards within Wales, focusing entirely on local start-ups, celebrating their successes and contributions to the local economy.
During the awards ceremony, husband and wife duo Mark and Karen Owen picked up ‘Tourism and Leisure Start Up of the Year’ in the Wales Start-Up Awards.
Mark Owen, Chief Taster at Wickedly Welsh Chocolate, commented:
“We’re ecstatic to have come away from the Wales Start-Up awards with Tourism and Leisure Start Up of the Year – it’s a huge endorsement for our whole team and we’re honoured to have been selected as the national winner. We love what we do, we couldn’t imagine our lives any other way now, and we’re excited to continue making Wicked but delicious chocolates for our customers all over the UK. We’ll definitely be celebrating this with all our customers and supporters, so stay tuned and watch this space.”
Karen Owen, Chief Flavour Maker at Wickedly Welsh Chocolate, commented “Having grown up in Pembrokeshire and worked in its busy tourism and leisure industry many years ago, I feel so proud that Wickedly Welsh Chocolate can bring this Tourism and Leisure award home to Pembrokeshire. Our whole team works so hard and this is a real team achievement.”
