Welsh favourites feature in Golf World magazine’s newly published Top 100 Golf Courses in Britain and Ireland guide.
As you’d expect, Celtic Manor Resort’s Twenty Ten course makes the list thanks to its Ryder Cup heritage and thrilling final five holes. Elsewhere, it’s classic Welsh links experiences that draw the plaudits.
Aberdovey’s willingness to build on its long history with progressive tweaks and improvements – initiatives that are reflected in its selection as host of the Ladies Home Internationals in 2014 – is singled out for special praise.
Royal St David’s in Harlech is described as offering arguably the best value in the entire list, marrying an incredibly high standard of golf with green fees as low as £52 on weekdays and £62 on weekends.
Finally, Golf World selects Royal Porthcawl as ‘the finest course in Wales’. It plays host to the Welsh Senior Open next year, with the British Senior Open taking place here in 2014.
As exciting as these courses are, they are just a handful of the great golfing experiences lined up for you by the country’s 170-plus clubs.
