Wales Millennium Centre seeks its 10 millionth visitor

Wales Millennium Centre

Staff at Wales Millennium Centre will celebrate a major milestone in the Centre’s history this month as the venue gets set to welcome their 10,000,000 visitor. To celebrate, everyone who visits the Centre from 5 – 15 April is in with a chance of winning an exclusive prize package.

Since opening in 2004, the landmark arts venue has become one of the UK’s most recognised buildings, showcasing the best of Wales to the world as well bringing the best cultural talent in the world to Wales. The Centre has been voted Wales’ No.1 visitor attraction, seeing over 1 million people through the doors each year in addition to theatre attenders. The Centre will this month, expect their 10,000,000 visitor, a milestone for the seven year old Cardiff Bay arts centre.

The Centre has put together a prize-package including 12 months-worth of theatre tickets and gifts from some of their sponsors including Sony, First Great Western, Bluestone and Castell Howell Foods. The prize will be won by one person who visits the Cardiff Bay attraction in-person between 5 - 15 April (the estimated time when the 10-millionth visitor crosses our doors).

To be in with a chance of being the Centre’s one in 10,000,000 - visitors to the Cardiff Bay attraction are asked to fill in an entry form. The winner will be selected at random by Welsh Baritone and South Pacific star, Jason Howard.

Conrad Lynch, Artistic Director at Wales Millennium Centre says, “As it is virtually impossible to pinpoint our exact 10,000,000 millionth visitor, we are asking people to fill an entry form during their visit from 5 – 15 April”.

“If you are coming to Cardiff Bay during this time we look forward to extending you a warm Welsh welcome. If you’ve never stepped inside the building before we would love for you to see you what we have to offer, especially if you have never visited us before. Who knows, you could walk away with prize package that will see you coming back in the not too distant future as our special guest!”

There is, as always, a wide range of activity available with thousands of casual visitors entering the building each day, to eat or drink in its cafés, bars and restaurant, taking guided tours of the Centre, experiencing a free performance on the Glanfa Stage, or viewing a free exhibition in the foyer galleries. Things to look out for during the period 5 – 15 April is the Cardiff Before Cardiff exhibition, craft workshops, circus performances by international troupe Cirkus Cirkor, the musical South Pacific, comedian Paul Merton and performances by National Dance Company of Wales in its Dance House.

The competition prize will consist of:

· Two tickets per month for theatre events

· Two course pre-show dinner in ffresh Restaurant

· Pre-show champagne for two people

· A Sony 40” 3D television

· First Great Western return rail tickets, Cardiff to London Paddington
