Llangoed Hall Hotel in Brecon has been acquired by Von Essen Hotels. The four-star hotel was formerly owned by the family of late fashion designer Laura Ashley.
Llangoed Hall Hotel is Von Essen's second Welsh property, joining the Michelin-starred Ynyshir Hall.
With 23 bedrooms, the house showcases the style and fabrics of Laura Ashley, whose husband, Sir Bernard, created the hotel. Part of the acquisition is Sir Bernard’s private art collection, including the famous Whistler room, which houses over 20 of Whistler's original drawings.
Von Essen chairman Andrew Davis said: "I am delighted to have acquired a property with such an individual history and in such a unique location. The purchase of Llangoed is testament to my ongoing personal commitment to this company and our strategy for continued growth."
The Cardiff office of Eversheds, led by Paul Pugh, acted on behalf of the Ashley family. Von Essen was advised by Goodman Derrick
