Tudno Castle Hotel will become Premier Inn

Tudno Castle Hotel will become Premier Inn

Plans have been unveiled to create a Premier Inn hotel, restaurants and a shop on the site of the listed Tudno Castle Hotel in Llandudno.

Mostyn Estates, which is the town's main landowner, is teaming up with property developer Opus North on the project, dubbed Tudno Point.

The site is earmarked to become home to a 63-bed Premier Inn, three restaurants with units ranging from 3,000 sq ft to 4,500 sq ft over two floors under the hotel, and a shop fronting Vaughan Street. The project will link the centre of Llandudno with the 160,000 sq ft Parc Llandudno shopping centre, which has tenants such as Debenhams, Laura Ashley and Next.

Andrew Duncan, director of Opus North, said: "The once-proud Tudno Castle Hotel has fallen into disrepair and has not been occupied for several years. The hotel's listed façade, however, remains extremely impressive and will form an integral part of our development."

Opus North plans to start work on the project in the summer of 2014, completing hte project  by the end of 2015.
