Wales’ top entry in Waitrose’s Good Food Guide for 2016 is Restaurant James Sommerin based in Penarth. They moved up from 30th to 24th place in the Top 50 Restaurants of 2016. Ynyshir Hall, Machynlleth was placed at 34 and Llangoed Hall, Brecon was a new entry at 36.


A new entry in the guide also went to Anglesey’s Marram Grass Café, who transformed the”Greasy Spoon” 4 tabled café to a 40 cover restaurant.


The Hardwick, Abergavenny was the top Welsh entry in the Top 50 Pubs of 2016 placing 16th. Felin Fach Griffin was the 32nd entry, Kinmel Arms, Abergele came 36th and Bunch of Grapes, Pontypridd were placed at number 47.


The editors of the Good Food Guide recognised The Tyddyn Llan in Llandrillo had shown excellence in the field of Wine List of the Year.


The Welsh Regional Winner of 2016 for the Readers Restaurant of the Year went to The Gallery in Barry.
