Talyllyn Railway has announced five especially themed weekend galas between May and September, each one reflecting different aspects of the past, present and future of the railway.
These will start on the May Day bank holiday weekend (Saturday 2nd May to Monday 4th May 2015), and will continue on the first weekend in July (Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th July 2015).
Following this there will be two events in August, first on the weekend of Friday 7th to Monday 9th August 2015, while the second will be over the August Bank holiday weekend of 29th to 31st August. The final weekend will be between Friday 25th and Sunday 27th September 2015.
A spokesperson for the railway said:
“On every weekend there will be especially themed trains and activities, many of which will draw on our 150 year history. In addition, we are planning for several events that have never been seen on the railway before. These will be galas that will thrill and delight enthusiasts and families alike”
The 150th celebrations will be starting on 24th September this year when the 150th anniversary of the completion of locomotive No.1 ‘Talyllyn’ will be marked with special trains.
