Walking events in Pembrokeshire National Park

If you want to explore the world-class landscape and walking opportunities on your doorstep but don’t have the information or experience, sign up to one of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s free April events.

The Authority’s Walkability Project Coordinator Paul Casson will be leading introductory walking courses in three popular locations to help people learn the basics about walking on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail and inland routes.

The walks should suit all abilities and will follow simple local routes that will take about an hour to complete.

Paul said: “If you need a bit of encouragement and advice to help you take advantage of the National Park’s wonderful walking opportunities, join us for afternoon to try out a local walk and learn how you can access other routes and start to plan your own trips out.

“All the relevant maps and information will be provided but you will need appropriate clothing to keep you warm and dry and strong footwear with good grip, as you are likely to be going onto rural footpaths.

“Not only will you learn practical skills such as map reading but you will experience the health and wellbeing benefits that taking a walk in the National Park can bring.”

The three free introductory courses will run from 1.30pm-4pm and start at the National Park Centres at:
• Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre, St Davids on Tuesday 21 April
• Tenby National Park Centre on Wednesday 22 April
• Newport National Park Visitor Centre on Friday 24 April.

Booking for these introductory events is essential. To book a place contact our National Park Centres: Oriel y Parc 01437 720392, Tenby 01834 845040 or Newport 01239 820912.

If you are unable to attend one of these events, the National Park Authority has a variety of other walking events planned throughout the year, ranging from mile-long walks for beginners and wildlife walks to guided walks on the Castlemartin Range.
