Over the last few years Wales cemented its standing as a world class venue with prestigious events such as an Ashes test match and the Ryder Cup.   Wales has also, hosted many of the football matches for the London 2012 Olympics this Summer.

The beautiful Pembrokeshire coast has attracted a couple of high-profile events this month. The Red Bull Cliff Diving Competition chose the area for its first visit to the UK. The Blue Lagoon in Aberiddy proved a stunning backdrop for the divers. 3000 spectators watched the action, with pictures and footage broadcast around the world.

 

In Tenby, over 1,600 competitors from all over Europe, US, Australia and South Africa took part in Ironman Wales. The race began at North Beach for the swimming leg, moving on to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park for the bike stage, and finishing on foot along The Esplanade in Tenby. The course showed off many of Pembrokeshire’s castles and landmarks to an international audience. Ironman 2013 date is 8th September and registrations are now open.
 

Cardiff also hosted its share of high adreneline events as p

art of the Cardiff Harbour Festival. Thousands came to watch ‘Extreme Sailing’ - nine Extreme 40 catamarans racing at breakneck speed around the harbour. The Festival also featured ariel entertainment such as wingwalkers and parachute displays.

The SŴN festival Thursday 18-21 October

Held in Cardiff, the SŴN Festival in Cardiff is quickly establishing itself as a key event in the UK’s contempory music and arts sector. The event features over 200 up and coming acts from Wales and around the world alongside DJs, film and art. The festival is expected to attract 3000 visitors to the 17 venues taking part. North Wales Choral Festival Friday 26–28 October

Venue Cymru in Llandudno will once again host this competition on its 25th Anniversary. The event attracts hundreds of competitors, including a growing number of international entries.
