Ryanair to begin flights from Cardiff this October
Low fares airline Ryanair is set to begin flights from Cardiff Airport to Tenerife this October, with a weekly service running every Thursday.
Last month, Cardiff Airport announced a 9% increase in the number of passengers since it was taken over by the Welsh government in 2013.
The airport’s chief executive said that the move was a great step forward for the airline’s long term strategy for growth.
Cardiff Airport chief executive Jon Horne said: "We are delighted that Ryanair has chosen Cardiff as its 15th UK departure airport and see this as a major opportunity to increase choice for our customers.
"This development fits perfectly with our strategy to grow the number of low cost airlines and flights available from Cardiff."
Ryanair last operated flights from Cardiff eight years ago; its previous route to Dublin closing in 2006. The airline now hopes to expand its routes from Cardiff in the coming years.
