The Royal Mint Experience has been awarded the accreditation of Quality Assured Visitor Attraction by Visit Wales within three months of opening. The Visit Wales Quality Marque only gets awarded to attractions that have been independently assessed against the national standards of the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme (VAQAS).
South Wales’ newest visitor attraction has also achieved an award for ‘The Best Told Story’, for the way in which the 1,000-year-old organisation’s rich heritage has been brought to life. Located near Cardiff, The Royal Mint Experience opened to the public in May, offering visitors the opportunity to discover the unexpected world of coins and the fascinating processes involved in producing them by the UK’s oldest manufacturer.
Anne Jessopp, The Royal Mint’s Director of Commemorative Coin, said “We are delighted to receive the coveted ‘VAQAS’ accreditation in our first three months of opening. The award highlights the dedicated hard work that the team has put into making sure visitors to The Royal Mint Experience have a memorable and enjoyable experience with us”.
Visitors to the Experience are able to see the heads and hear the tales, meet the experts on hand to share their knowledge and passion for their craft and there is the opportunity for people to strike their very own coin as a memento of the visit. The guided Factory Experience gives visitors first-hand knowledge of the manufacturing journey, while a series of static and interactive exhibitions help illustrate its vibrant history.
A perfect day out for the family, coin enthusiasts, history buffs or those who want a unique insight into one of the country’s oldest institutions, The Royal Mint Experience caters for everyone. Open daily 9:30am to 18:30pm – the last tour will be at 4:30pm.
Tickets are available to pre book online including discounts for group bookings. Please visit their website for more information.
