Prince Charles will be patron of Dylan Thomas 100 (DT100), the year-long celebration in 2014 to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas. The announcement was made on 14 December during the Prince's visit to 5 Cwmdonkin Drive - the poet's birthplace, which was recently recognised as the Best Tourist Attraction and the Best Visitor Experience in the Tourism Swansea Bay Awards. The festival will aim to highlight the artistic, cultural and commercial importance of Thomas's work. The director of the film version of his play Under Milk Wood has also gifted its rights to the people of Wales.
