Pembrokeshire has again underlined the quality of its natural beauty and wildlife by winning the BBC Countryfile magazine 'Destination of the Year' award 2018.

Countryfile made a special mention of Pembrokeshire’s wildlife writing: ‘With a wealth of natural attractions, it’s no wonder that the wild coastline of Pembrokeshire has romped home with this year’s top spot.

‘It’s a haven for marine life with dolphins and porpoises often seen from Strumble Head, whale-watching boat trips off the coast, and plentiful puffins and seals at Skomer.’

The magazine also praised the coast path, which is no more than 14 miles from any destination in the county, and Wales' smallest city St Davids which boasts stunning scenery, wildlife spotting boat trips and the cathedral.

Other Wales finalists were: Snowdonia for the Best UK National Park award; Newborough Beach on Anglesey for the Beach of the Year award

and Castell Dinas Bran in Denbighshire as Best Landmark of the Year.
