Lasswade win Sustainable Food Award
Quietly does it is the secret to the success for the Lasswade Country House & Restaurant in Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys. Owners Roger and Emma Stevens, have just been presented by Raymond Blanc with a Dartington Crystal bowl for winning the Sustainable Food Award at the Dorchester Hotel in London. This award was given for their commitment to using locally produced food. Prof. John Forte was also one of the Judges at the ceremony and he praised the Lasswade for being a role model within the tourism industry.
This award was given to Hoteliers/Guesthouses ‘that go that extra mile’ to source and provide sustainable food for its guests, through supporting its local food producers, producing and/or purchasing ethically and showing seasonality and sustainability. Hotels and guest houses were also expected to proudly demonstrate this to their guests and other users, through marketing and via the menu, why they are doing so. Lasswade Country House & Restaurant was this year's worthy winner, beating off strong competition from the Bingham at Richmond upon Thames, Surrey; The Nurse’s Cottage at Sway in the New Forest National Park; and The Queensberry Hotel, Bath.
