Brand new restaurant FED is bringing “food exploration” as it launches to its first UK branch in Cardiff this month (January 2015).
FED offers diners a brand-new dining experience, combining all the best parts of the buffet and casual dining concept.
FED stands for “Food Exploration Destination”, with diners able to choose from hundreds of dishes from cuisines from around the world, including Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Tex Mex and Grill. But instead of the pre-prepared meals customers often experience at multi-cuisine restaurants, every dish will be prepared fresh to order at one of the restaurant’s seven “live kitchens”.
Customers will be able to interact with FED’s skilled chefs to choose exactly what ingredients they want to combine to create their own bespoke dish, cooked exactly the way they want it. Or they can take their pick from FED’s signature dishes, such as classic carbonara or chicken tikka.
The team behind FED are brothers Sachin and Shailesh (Sal) Bajpai. Former members of the senior management team at national buffet chain, Red Hot World Buffet, the brothers have more than 15 years’ combined experience of the multi-cuisine sector to draw on when it comes to bringing their own vision to life.
Diners will able to sample dishes from nine different cuisines, including Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Italian, Tex Mex and the grill, as well as a tempting dessert station. The restaurant’s seven live kitchens include a number special features including an authentic Italian pizza oven and Indian tandoor, Indian street-food-style snacks, live woks in the Chinese kitchen, and a three-metre-long grill, which will become a real focal point of the FED experience.
To add to the variety on offer customers can either visit the various kitchen stations themselves or opt for table service. The restaurant’s top-floor mezzanine, which can host 50 diners, will also be available to hire for private bookings.
