Local holiday provider HF Holidays has beaten blue chip travel brands including Kuoni, Virgin Holidays, Thomas Cook and Trailfinders to win the Best Tour Operator (large) category in the annual Guardian, Observer and guardian.co.uk Travel Awards – the longest running independent survey of its kind.
HF Holidays is one of the largest travel co-operatives in the UK, welcoming over 50,000 guests on a wide range of walking, outdoor and leisure activity holidays each year. Nythfa House on the outskirts of Brecon is one of the company’s British holiday bases, and hosts hundreds of visitors every year on guided walking holidays in the Brecon Beacons.
The company scored 97.4 per cent in terms of customer satisfaction as voted by their guests and readers of the quality paper, beating better-known holiday brands by a comfortable margin.
“We’re delighted to be recognised in this way,” says chief executive Brian Smith. “Our consistent attention to quality, customer experience and our personal relationship with guests marks us out from our competitors, and this is reflected in the business performance and growth we have been experiencing. Already bookings for 2011 are 10 per cent up on 2010 and this award will help us continue this progress,” says Smith (pictured, centre, with the company’s head of marketing and development.
