Professional Tourist Guides in Wales have worked together to revolutionise how they offer their services to the Travel Trade. Tour Operators, Coach Operators & Group Travel Organisers can now select a Guide on the basis of the ‘experiences’ that they deliver.
“This new concept allows guides to show their passion for Wales, and the diversity of opportunities here, direct to the market. I believe this is a first for the industry and the worldwide Guiding community,” says Stella Mair Thomas, Chair of the Wales Official Tourist Guides Association (WOTGA).
WalesBestGuides.com offers a Wales-wide resource of guided tour products that travel organisers, and coach and tour companies can search by geography, tour theme and language of delivery (or a combination of these). The system also shows an individual Guide’s availability and social media links, and allows instant online bookings to be made direct with the Guide.
“It makes perfect business sense for organisations to work with professional Tourist Guides. We know that visitor satisfaction is enhanced, leading to improved customer retention and greater repeat bookings. We would like to encourage the travel trade to take a look at ‘Wales Best Guides.com’ so they can benefit and improve their business in Wales,” says Stella.
The £60,000 project, part funded by Visit Wales through their Digital Tourism Business Framework, was launched at an event attended by Ken Skates, Wales Government Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, following his presentation of awards to 21 newly qualified ‘All Wales’ guides.
Already the site has helped place business in Wales from the UK, America, Germany, Ukraine & Qatar.
