Alice Liddell, the little girl who inspired Lewis Carroll to write his classic Wonderland books, spent her holidays in her family seaside home in Llandudno, and in 2014, a new Alice in Wonderland digital E Tour and Town Trail will share Alice’s Welsh links with the world.
In early summer 2014 the Follow the White Rabbit app will allow visitors to follow a guided, audio-visual E Tour containing augmented reality that’s the first of its kind in the UK. Along the way they will meet the real Alice and unreal White Rabbit, and join in adventures conjured up in the book and App. Visitors can go down the Rabbit Hole and meet the March Hare, have tea with the Mad Hatter and follow the White Rabbit through a virtual forest. The app is expected to launch in May.
Visitors will also be able to purchase a map that acts as a guide, and the entire trail is easy to navigate – simply follow the White Rabbit’s bronze footprints throughout the town.
Look out too for the ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ walking theatrical performances from the talented Looking Glass Theatre Company. The White Rabbit and Mad Hatter take you on a walking tour of Llandudno, introducing you to Alice and her adventures.
The St Tudno Hotel has links to the Liddell family and can offer afternoon tea with some of the Alice characters. Contact the hotel directly to arrange.
