The new 'Red Michelin Guide 2017' sees The Felin Fach Griffin, near Brecon remain as the only restaurant in Wales to be given a Bib Gourmand.
The Bib Gourmand, distinct from the rosettes (more often know as stars), is an award for “good value, good quality cooking”. This edition of the guide marks the 20th anniversary of the Bib Gourmand.
The Felin Fach Griffin is a country inn with a difference. It is the creation of a young dynamic team led by brothers Charles and Edmund Inkin and managed by Julie Bell. It has 7 bedrooms that neatly blend modern comforts with the rustic charm of the building.
It has also been named the Dining Pub of the Year for Wales in the 2017 edition of the 'Good Food Guide'. The restaurant follows the brothers’ belief in “the simple things done well”, a philosophy which was developed during their dairy farming childhood in neighbouring Monmouthshire.
They reclaimed their crown in the 'Good Pub Guide', taking the award for the sixth time in seven years having been dethroned in 2016. It states “Highly thought of dining pub with home-grown vegetables among its carefully sourced ingredients, a fine range of drinks and upbeat rustic décor….. this well run dining pub is a civilised place for a first class meal – or even better, a relaxing break.”
The 2017 Good Pub Guide is published by Ebury Press and is an independent guide featuring more than 5,000 pubs including many other Welsh entries.
