After a gap of some 35 years since Princess Margaret was a regular visitor to Plas Dinas Country House, her great nephew, Prince William has attended a lunch here.
Just after 13:00 on Thursday 6th January 2011, the Prince arrived by car and was driving himself.
The Prince was very relaxed and enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in the Drawing Room where Princess Margaret once entertained guests for afternoon tea.
A three course lunch, cooked by proprietor-chef Andy Banner-Price was served in the 400 year old Gun Room. He said “They all enjoyed their meal, the starter of Smoked Salmon Mousse being a favourite of the Armstrong-Jones family when it was served to a private party held here last August.”
Andy & Julian Banner-Price hope that now Prince William lives on Anglesey this will be the first of many times the house will be used to host royalty.
The Queen was also in the area recently when she visited Dinas Station to open a new carriage for the Welsh Highland Railway, the first time she had returned to Caernarfon for many years.
Graded as 5 star, Plas Dinas is set 1/3 mile down its own drive and is very private, making it ideal for confidential meetings or a celebrity stop over. Facilities are also available for helicopter landing and can be re-fuelled at the nearby Caernarfon Airport.
