A new 1.7 million extension at the Coed-y-Brenin bike park near Dolgellau will cement the area's reputation as a world class mountain biking destination.

The development almost doubles the size of facilities at the forest, including a new bike shop and hire centre. A brand new beginners bike section is named The Foundry, while new trail the MinorTaur caters to riders with disabilities.

Culture and Sports Minister John Griffiths praised the work of the centre as the extension opened today.

"These world-class facilities in the heart of Snowdonia help showcase the fantastic landscape we have in Wales for responsible outdoor recreation," he said.
