A Mid Wales country house hotel has been judged runner up for the best gardens prize in the LateRooms.com Best Kept Secret Awards 2013.
Caer Beris Manor Country House Hotel, in Builth Wells was the only finalist from Mid Wales in the UK-wide awards.
Set in 27 acres of parkland and surrounded by the River Irfon, Caer Beris Manor Hotel is a beautiful country retreat near the A483 in the heart of Powys. The hotel is perfectly placed for a relaxing weekend break, with tranquil surroundings and fine dining, yet less than three hours from Manchester, Birmingham and London.
Hotel owner Peter Smith said that this autumn was proving a beautiful one in Caer Beris' gardens.
“Autumn colours have started early this year because of the weather conditions. The apple trees are groaning with fruit, all of which is destined for the hotel’s kitchen and it has been a bumper year.
"As the next few weeks go by, the colours of the leaves change to glowing golds and oranges, a match for any display in the country. Mushrooms abound on the riverbank."
Visitors are welcome to visit the gardens throughout the year and copies of Garden Tree Trails pamphlets are available from the hotel's Reception. The hotel is open seven days a week for meals and teas and coffees.
