Take an adventure though Wales’ thriving food scene and fresh local produce
2016 is the Year of Adventure in Wales and people are being asked to “find your epic”. Cambria Tours, in partnership with Loving Welsh Food, are asking you not to just “find your epic”, but to find your most epic food in a range of culinary adventures in the Welsh Capital of Cardiff, and extended tours around the rest of Wales.
Cambria Tours, an inbound tour operator and member of UKinbound and ETOA, promote travel to Wales and create bespoke packages for both groups and individual travellers. Based in Mid-Wales, their expanding team has seen an influx of interest in holidays in Wales, and they offer tours in a range of themes including culinary, adventure, walking, cycling, historical, cultural and horticultural.
One popular food adventure is the Cardiff Tasting Tours which run every Friday and include plenty of walking to build up the appetite and some delicious tasters. The aim of the tour is to explore the capital city from a different perspective, and enjoy the range of different foods on offer. There’s a strong emphasis on Welsh food and local produce, while the cosmopolitan city of Cardiff boasts a thriving food scene including ethnic and continental foods, traditional markets and festivals. The tastings include, among other things, charcuterie, cheeses, Welsh beverages, cockles & laverbread (seaweed).
Further afield, our culinary tours can trace the food from farm to fork, including visits to renowned farms that supply produce to Waitrose and Marks & Spencer’s. You can even include a farm stay on one of our tours if you are particularly interested in the agricultural side of things! And it doesn’t stop there - if all that eating has made you thirsty, Wales can give any other country a run for its money in its production of top quality wine and spirits! We have over 15 vineyards and two distilleries producing a wide range of award winning wine, whisky and gin. Sip wine in spectacular surroundings while learning how the grapes are grown, visit Penderyn, the producer of Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky and Wales’ first commercial distillery in 100 years in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National park for a Whisky masterclass or learn more about the artisanal gin produced in the west coast of Wales in Da Mhile distillery, the creation of a farmer who brought the world its first ever organic whisky!
Aled Rees, Managing Director of Cambria Tours, said: “This last year has been an exciting year for Wales and we have really felt the enthusiasm and engagement with our beautiful country build. With the 2016 year of Adventure upon us, Cambria Tours is focusing on promoting Wales as a must-see tourist destination and helping our travellers indulge in an adventure during their time here, be it the adventure of tasting something brand new, or flying through the air on the fastest and longest Zip Wire in Europe in North Wales! We want to invite people to really explore what Wales has to offer, and to find their epic along the way!”
