Best of the best accommodation businesses receive Gold Award

Hotels and Guest Accommodation representing the best Wales has to offer have today been named as Business Minister, Edwina Hart announced the Visit Wales Gold Award list for 2011-12.

 

A record number of businesses have been listed this year, 79 Guest Accommodation (31 new entries) and 27 Hotels (8 new entries). The main aim of the Gold Award, which has been running since 2007, is to reward outstanding quality, exceptional comfort and hospitality in the serviced sector in Wales.

 

The Business Minister today visited Morgans Hotel, Swansea which has been successful in being listed this year. The company’s sister hotel, The Cawdor in Llandeilo has also made it to the hotel list with Morgans Townhouse in Swansea also receiving a Gold Award for Guest Accommodation .

 

Christine Owen, General Manager said that the company were delighted with their recent successes. She said: “At Morgans, we strive to achieve an exceptional experience for our guests, from the products we use all the way through to our levels of service. We are delighted that this has been recognised and is reflected in us achieving the Visit Wales Gold Award.

 

“As a Welsh company we are extremely proud to be ambassadors for Wales and to set an example of what can be achieved through dedication and hard work. The Gold Award lets people know what they can expect when visiting us at Morgans in Swansea or the Cawdor in Llandeilo, and hopefully we can exceed their expectations even further.”

 

Another tourism business having a double celebration this month is the Cross Foxes, near Dolgellau. The businesses opened its doors for the first time in November 2010 and have also been listed for a Gold Award for Guest Accommodation for the first time.

 

Owners Nicol and Dewi Gwynne, said: “We are very pleased with the first year performance of Cross Foxes. We have doubled our projections and have received very positive feedback from customers.

 

We are proud to have gained the Gold Award and look forward to continue developing our product to ensure our guests receive an exceptional dining and short break experience.”

 

The Minister congratulated all businesses on their achievement, she said: “Although Tourism has strong growth potential, the competition in the global market-place is intense. Quality is the key to the future success of the tourism industry in Wales and these accommodation businesses are setting an exceptionally high benchmark of quality, they exceed customer expectation and are first class products in all respects. I wish them every success for the future.”
