Meeting Spaces and new facilities:

2017 saw the launch of the new Cedar Barn at fforest as a meeting and event space enabling us to host larger events and dinners. The first event to take place here was the SNAP Photofest, a midweek get together full of workshops, talks and socialising for the international photographic community. This was the third consecutive year that we hosted the event, but having the cedar barn available for workshops along with additional outdoor covered areas offering shelter and natural light brought a completely new dimension to the event.

The cedar barn is also about to host its third fforest feast, an evening of the best of local produce from land and sea accompanied by natural wines and Welsh spirits.
We are now confident that the barn offers a creative and flexible space for workshops, dinners and parties.

New Accommodation:
Our old Georgian farmhouse restoration was completed in early 2017 to reveal Ty Fforest, a 5 bedroom house 5 bathroom house with spacious living and dining spaces on the ground floor and views out across the fforest farmland. This is ideal for high end corporate accommodation for management, while the existing fforest accommodation offers flexible shared options for the rest of the delegates.

Ikea recently held a marketing team event in the farmyard, sleeping in the house, crog lofts and domes and using the house's communal spaces for workshops and dining.

Loulou Lemon also used the farmhouse as the base for an active retreat for their international brand ambassadors.

Nomination of awards:

Fforest was judged as runner up to The Bush Rover Company in Tanzania in the Happy Glampers category of the National Geographic’s inaugural Big Sleep Awards 2017 along with the fabulous Whitepod resort in the Swiss Alps. This is fantastic recognition for fforest, based in Pembrokeshire, being the only venue in Wales to get a mention in any of the 20 categories celebrating the best taste-making and game-changing hotels across the globe. Judges included Tom Chesshyre, travel writer for The Times, Nikki Tinto, co-founder of i-escape, and James & Tamara Lohan, founders of Mr & Mrs Smith along with members of the National Geographic Traveller (UK) team.

James Lynch, fforestchief, was delighted with the announcement, stating “It is wonderful to have our work recognised by such a prestigious team of judges and to stand alongside so many excellent pioneers in design and customer experience around the world.”

Incentives:

fforest has worked hard to build its brand based on inspirational accommodation and event spaces in a stunning rural location. We also pride ourselves on the service we provide and the standard of catering. Using these as the foundation we are now moving towards themed incentives for the business market and are working on a range of products targeted at specific client groups.

Creative - For smaller gatherings we offer our creative "syjunta" breaks - a relaxing retreat centred around creativity, socialising and comforting food. We recommend including a couple of walks and activities, such as foraging, as well as plenty of time focusing on a creative project either communally or individually. This is a softer approach to team building, likely to appeal to female groups.

Active - For the more active group, we offer our Glow camps. We have always promoted "Active Relaxation" - clearing your mind through the challenge of learning new skills and the physical demands of a tough day's play. We also understand the luxury of just doing nothing. Sit on the deck, watch the deer, read a book, or just dream. Our fforest Glow camps are the perfect combination of the two - physical challenge interspersed with relaxation and comfort.

Tasty - The fforest feast formula is now tried and tested - for groups of 50 to 100, a 2 night stay with an arrival supper of Pizzatipi wood-fired pizza and fforest Smokehouse ribs and meats and a tasting menu of the finest fresh local ingredients in the Cedar Barn on the 2nd night, accompanied by Da Mhile gin cocktails and Wrights Emporium natural wines. The perfect reward for a hard-working team. A range of activities can be enjoyed during the day, depending on the season.

Fun - Because the core of fforest's business is semi-permanent accommodation we have the flexibility to scale up our informal offering depending on our client's requirements. We have 200 acres of land available to us to create the ultimate festival incentive. To complement the existing permanent and semi-permanent accommodation we can install a pop-up canvas village to create the perfect festival environment.

fforest hosts Gather each summer, an event for up to 300 people sampling a wide range of activities from drumming to pottery to tree climbing to spoon carving. We cater in-house, with a feast-style supper on the final evening, and organise entertainment and activities to complement the skill-learning workshops. This model is completely transferable to a corporate environment and would create a memorable experience in an idyllic location for all attendees.
