Cycling and walking specialists The Carter Company have launched their first cycling holiday in Wales. The 8 night guided group tour offers a unique chance to explore all three of the Welsh National Parks – and much more – on two wheels.

Aimed at the leisure cyclist, much of the cycling on this holiday is traffic-free, using old railway lines with gentle gradients and featuring relatively short distances each day. With van support for the entire trip, routes have been carefully planned to start at altitude and run downhill - so there are remarkably few hills to pedal up, given the terrain. With a driver-guide at the helm, the tour is ideal for individuals and groups looking for a different way to discover Wales.

The itinerary includes cycling in the Brecon Beacons; the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion coasts; Snowdonia; the valleys of the Wye, Ystwyth, Teifi and Mawddach rivers; and the Cambrian Mountains. There’s a great variety of landscapes, from sea to mountains, peaks to beaches, estuaries to forests. Spot wildlife in abundance, discover age-old traditions in local slate and woollen industries, visit castles famous and derelict, relive a Welsh poet’s love affair with the landscape, travel along an astonishing canal, witness beauty beyond measure and relish a dramatic rack-and-pinion train ride to the summit of Mount Snowdon. It's a real Welsh adventure!

Prices start from £1,865 per person based on two people sharing an ensuite room. The price includes bike hire, B&B in characterful hotels each night, a Carter Company guide and van support, dinner on days 1 and 8, a boat trip around Ramsey Island and a ride on the Snowdon Mountain railway. Electric bikes available on request. The tour starts in Brecon on 8 June 2017 and finishes in Caernarfon.
