Cardiff Castle

Cardiff Castle has launched a new all-inclusive bookable group product for Cardiff which brings together the best elements of any day out in the city. This group package combines a visit to Cardiff Castle, a river cruise along the River Taff and an indulgent cream tea at the iconic Norwegian Church with spectacular views over Cardiff Bay. The package is available for groups of 20 or more and competitively priced at £30 per person.

The starting point is Cardiff Castle, one of the most important historic houses in the UK and set within magnificent grounds. With a long history stretching back to the Roman invasion, the site you see today is at once a reconstructed Roman fort, an impressive Norman castle and an extraordinary Victorian Gothic fantasy palace, created for one of the world’s richest men. Visitors can take time to explore the site at their own pace or can up-grade to a guided tour with a Castle expert.

A short walk through Bute Park brings you to the pick-up point for your river tour to Cardiff Bay on board the Princess Katherine. This covered vessel has a recorded commentary which gives a fascinating insight into the historic buildings en-route, abundant wildlife, the barrage and the transformation of Cardiff Bay from one of world’s most important 19th century ports to a bustling re-vitalised waterfront.

Take time to explore the iconic buildings and attractions in Cardiff Bay, from the magnificent Wales Millennium Centre to the Pier Head and the Senedd – home to the Welsh Assembly.

Make your way to The Norwegian Church for a delicious Cream Tea including scones with jam and cream, tea or coffee. Formerly a church for Norwegian Sailors with close connections to the world famous author Roald Dahl, enjoy the panoramic views across the Bay from this superb location.

The following itinerary is recommended although timings are flexible and weather dependent. Coach parking is available in the city centre with easy coach pick-up points in Cardiff Bay.

10am – 12noon: Cardiff Castle

12.30pm: Board the Princess Katherine at Bute Park Water Taxi Stop
