You’re in love, and you want to get married or register a civil partnership – then come to Wales where there is ample choice.  Marriages and civil partnerships can take place anywhere in Wales that is registered with a valid wedding licence – whether at a registry office, a stately home, hotel or country house hotel a Church or any other religious building and even castles.


  • Hotels and County House Hotels are plentiful in Wales.   • Portmeirion has always been the perfect place to celebrate the perfect day.   • Castles - In Wales we have over 400 of them, so plenty to choose from. Cardiff Castle and Castell Coch will offer you a chance to feel like a fairytale princess for the day and at Bodelwyddan Castle and Caldicot Castle you will be in truly magical settings.   • Ever dreamed of holding your service on a world stage? Wales Millennium Centre can provide a unique and unusual wedding venue to host your ceremony and reception in the heart of Cardiff Bay which creates one of the most striking backdrops for your Wedding photographs. They offer a choice of complete wedding packages to suit the occasion, together with various private areas within the Centre, including the Awen, Stones or Horizon foyers which are directly behind the inscription at the front of the building.
  • The Worlds deepest wedding has been held in Wales. Fancy getting married 450 feet beneath the surface – then Llechwedd Slate Caverns is the venue for you. Wedding couples and their guests first have to descend into the Deep Mine on Britain’s steepest passenger railway where they will take their vows beneath the summit of the mountain. Different underground venues at Llechwedd are licensed but by far the most popular is the shoreline of the dramatic underground lake.
  • Want to offer your guests a round of golf following the wedding breakfast? Then consider getting married in one of Wales’ many golf clubs. The Gower Golf Club offer great wedding packages – set in a tranquil country setting in Wales’ very own area of outstanding natural beauty There is also the Celtic Manor Resort, home to the Ryder Cup in 2010 that offers wedding and golf packages combined
  • At the northern end of Aberystwyth promenade Constitution Hill rises dramatically to provide a spectacular natural viewpoint. On a clear day it is possible to see 26 mountain peaks spanning much of the length of Wales. Here too is where you’ll find the longest electric cliff railway in Britain, which has been transporting visitors to the summit since opening in 1896.  Once at the summit visitors can experience the views afforded by the world’s largest camera obscura, which offers a birds eye view of 1000 square miles of land and seascape. Wow what a venue for a wedding.
  • What about getting married in a vineyard? Llanerch Vineyard is the largest and oldest premier vineyard in Wales, and nestles among meadows and grazing pastures, woodlands and gardens and two tranquil lakes brimming with ornamental carp. Situated only 15 minutes from Cardiff, Llanerch Vineyard offers a range of superb accommodation, gourmet activities and even a Master Food School all set in an idyllic setting.

  • For civil partnerships Courtfield Hotel, Cardiff is a beautifully converted Victorian town-house hotel and is the longest established gay hotel in Cardiff. Set in a charming tree-lined conservation area, the hotel is within easy walking distance of Cardiff Castle and all the city centre attractions including its fabulous gay scene. The hotel is over 100 years old and still retains many of its original features.

  • Llanelly House is recognised as one of the most beautiful buildings in Wales and is registered for Marriages and Civil Partnerships. The fine Georgian architecture of the House make it an ideal setting. Welsh National Wedding Awards

At the Welsh National Wedding Awards 2012 held at Brangwyn Hall, Swansea on Sunday 18th November, the Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel in Usk was voted as the Best Wedding Venue in Wales for the second year running.


Having earlier been awarded the Best Wedding Venue in the South East region category, the Glen-yr-Afon went on to beat the 24 other short-listed venues to be crowned the best wedding venue in the whole of Wales.


In the second Welsh National Awards couples voted in their thousands to recognise the businesses in the wedding industry that made a difference to their special day.
